Segundo Alejandro Castillo Nazareno, commonly known as Segundo Castillo, is a former professional footballer from Ecuador. Born on May 15, 1982, in Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Ecuador, he established himself as a prominent figure in South American football during his active years. Castillo gained international recognition as a highly skilled midfielder, renowned for his tactical awareness, physicality, and leadership qualities.
Castillo began his professional career in 2000 when he signed with Ecuadorian club Espoli. His impressive performances soon caught the attention of several top-flight teams in Ecuador, leading him to make the move to El Nacional in 2002. During his time with El Nacional, Castillo showcased his talent and contributed significantly to the club's success, winning several domestic titles, including the Serie A championship in 2005.
The dynamic midfielder's immense talent did not go unnoticed outside of Ecuador, as he caught the eye of European clubs. In 2006, Castillo made his international move, signing with Belgian club Club Brugge.
