Paul Williams is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. Born on September 19, 1940, in Omaha, Nebraska, he is best known for writing hit songs for prominent artists such as Barbra Streisand, David Bowie, and the Carpenters. He also made a name for himself as a performer with several chart-topping albums and singles in the 1970s. Throughout his career, he received numerous accolades for his contributions to the entertainment industry, including Grammy and Academy Awards. Williams' talent as a songwriter was evident from a young age. He began writing songs at just fourteen years old and quickly gained recognition for his work. In 1967, he co-wrote the song “Rainy Days and Mondays” for the Carpenters, which went on to become a Billboard top 40 hit. Williams continued to write hit songs for the group, including “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “I Won’t Last a Day Without You,” which were both nominated for Grammy Awards. Along with his prolific songwriting career, Williams had a successful acting career, making appearances in movies and television shows.
