Covington’s parents were both musicians, and she inherited their love for music. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where she studied theater and music. Covington rose to fame in 1970 when she starred in the rock musical “Hair” in London’s West End. In 1974, she released her debut album, “Julie Covington”, which featured several songs written by world-renowned songwriters such as Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell.
