LaMarcus Nurae Aldridge, widely known as LaMarcus Aldridge, is a former American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Aldridge was born on July 19, 1985, in Dallas, Texas. He played college basketball at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a two-time All-American and played for the Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 Conference. Aldridge was selected as the second overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. After his selection in the 2006 NBA draft, Aldridge was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, where he spent the majority of his NBA career. As a Trail Blazer, Aldridge established himself as one of the best power forwards in the league. He was named to the All-Rookie First Team in 2007-08 season and was a seven-time NBA All-Star. Aldridge averaged over 20 points per game for five consecutive seasons and became the sixth player in Trail Blazers' history to score 10,000 points. Aldridge was also named to the All-NBA Second Team in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons. In the 2015-16 season, Aldridge signed with the San Antonio Spurs and played for them for five seasons. As a Spur, Aldridge continued to showcase his versatile skill set and played an instrumental role in the 2017-18 season when the Spurs finished third in the Western Conference. In April 2021, Aldridge announced his retirement from the NBA citing health concerns. Over the course of his NBA career, Aldridge averaged 19.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 49.1% from the field.
