Matt Barnes is a former American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for over a decade. He was born on March 9, 1980, in Santa Clara, California, and was raised in nearby Sacramento. Barnes played college basketball at UCLA and was selected in the second round of the 2002 NBA draft by the Memphis Grizzlies. During his career, Barnes played for nine different NBA teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, and Memphis Grizzlies, among others. Barnes was known for his physical style of play and defensive abilities, making him a valuable player off the bench. He was also a good three-point shooter and had a career average of 6.2 points per game. Off the court, Barnes was known for being unafraid to speak his mind and was involved in several off-court controversies throughout his career.
