AJ Hawk is a former American football linebacker, who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 11 seasons. He was born on January 6, 1984, in Kettering, Ohio, and grew up in Centerville, Ohio. Hawk was a three-sport athlete in high school, excelling in football, basketball, and baseball. He caught the attention of many college football recruiters, and eventually settled on attending Ohio State University. During his time at Ohio State, Hawk became one of the top linebackers in the country. He was part of the Buckeyes team that won the national championship in 2002, and he was named the defensive MVP of the Fiesta Bowl that year. Hawk was also a two-time All-American, and won the Lombardi Award (given to the best college lineman or linebacker) in 2005. He finished his college career with 394 tackles, 41 tackles for loss, and 15 sacks. In 2006, Hawk was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the first round (fifth overall) of the NFL draft. He would spend the majority of his career in Green Bay, playing for the team for nine seasons. During his time with the Packers, Hawk was a key player on the defensive side of the ball, often leading the team in tackles. In 2010, he was part of the Packers team that won the Super Bowl, and he also earned his first and only Pro Bowl selection that year. Hawk would finish his NFL career playing for the Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons, before retiring in 2016. Off the field, Hawk has been involved with many philanthropic endeavors, including the Hawk's Locks for Kids program (which provides wigs for children who have lost their hair due to medical conditions) and the A.J. Hawk Foundation (which supports various children's charities in Ohio and Wisconsin). He is also a co-host of the podcast "The HawkCast," where he interviews athletes, celebrities, and other influential figures.
