Hailing from Wadsworth, Ohio, Tabler carved a successful career for himself in Major League Baseball as a versatile infielder and outfielder. Known for his solid defensive skills and consistent hitting, he played for three different teams over his 11-year career.
Tabler made his MLB debut in 1981 when he was called up by the Chicago Cubs. Although he only played in five games that season, it was just the start of what would become an impressive journey. In 1983, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians, where he truly made a name for himself. Tabler spent six seasons with the Indians and became a fan favorite due to his exceptional work ethic and contributions at the plate.

In 1987, he achieved a remarkable .326 batting average, leading the American League in hitting for much of the season.
