His outstanding college performance caught the attention of the New York Rangers, who drafted him in the third round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. Pellerin embarked on his professional career, spending several seasons in the Rangers' organization, as well as brief stints with the Hartford Whalers and Phoenix Coyotes.
