Francisco "Paquín" Estrada Soto, also known as simply Paquín Estrada, is not a celebrity from the United States. In fact, he is a retired professional baseball player from Mexico. Born on January 25, 1959, in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico, Estrada made a name for himself in the sport as a catcher. He played for several Mexican teams throughout his career, including Diablos Rojos del México and Naranjeros de Hermosillo.
Estrada's talent and skills led him to represent Mexico in international competitions, including the Caribbean Series and the Olympics. In addition to his domestic success, he also played for Major League Baseball (MLB) teams in the United States. In 1985, Estrada made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros, becoming the second Mexican-born catcher to play in the league. He later played for the California Angels and the Los Angeles Dodgers, earning a reputation for his defensive abilities behind the plate.
As a professional athlete, Estrada garnered both recognition and numerous accolades, including being named to the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame. Throughout his career, he showcased his leadership skills and ability to mentor younger players. Estrada retired from baseball in 1992 but continued to contribute to the sport as a coach and manager in Mexico.
