7Hello, everyone! Let me share one of the best experiences of my life. Right after graduating from high school, I moved to a new city to attend college. Shortly after that, a friend invited me on a trip to a remote indigenous tribe in the forests of Sumatra—a community untouched by formal education. For a whole year, we struggled to build a relationship with them. They believed that school would destroy their traditions and diminish their ability to survive. However, little by little, they began to trust us. Finally, we built a nature-based school in their village. We went from house to house to gather the children—some homes were miles apart. I still remember the first time I asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Their answers? “Snakes, monkeys, pigs, frogs...” That was their world. But over time, their dreams changed. They wanted to become doctors, entrepreneurs, teachers, even presidents. They learned to read and write. Some of them even managed to continue their education in the city. For seven years, we lived with them. We didn’t just teach—we also learned. We learned how to survive in the wild, respect their culture, live simply, and love sincerely.
