The interview

When I arrived, the office looked impressive. Everything was made of glass—doors, walls, even the meeting rooms. I could see people walking fast, typing nonstop, talking loudly on their headsets. It felt like they were trying to show me how “successful” the place was before I even sat down. The man who interviewed me walked in after making me wait. He looked at my suit and said, “Nice clothes.” But the way he said it felt strange, as if he expected me to show up unprepared or poorly dressed. He sat down, placed an expensive smartphone on the table, and started talking immediately. Not about the job. Not about responsibilities. Not about salary. Only numbers. He told me they were “the best office in the world.” He talked about success, opportunity, growth, and how “anyone” could become rich quickly if they followed the system. Then he said it: “You can make R$30,000 monthly in just a few months. And in less than a year, you can reach R$100,000 monthly.” No details. No explanation. Just promises. After all that, he leaned forward, pointed through the glass, and said: “See that expensive car outside? It’s mine. You can have one too. All you need is to accept the offer.” I looked at him, and something inside me felt wrong. Everything he said sounded rehearsed, calculated, manipulative. When he finally asked, “Do you want the offer?” I answered, “No. It’s not for me.” He seemed confused at first, but when he saw I wasn’t impressed, he simply shook my hand and dismissed me. Only later did I fully understand what this company really was. They never wanted a worker. They wanted someone desperate enough to sell loans to their own family and friends, using personal relationships as tools for profit. If you didn’t bring money to the company, you earned nothing. No salary. No stability. Just pressure. Their “opportunity” was a trap disguised as success.
