I wrote a book but I don't want to use ai to fix it. Am I being stupidly stubborn for wanting the imperfections just so that way it shows it hasn't been written by ai?

You can work with AI without it overtaking your work. It does what you tell it to do, if all you want is editing/suggestions you can do that. AI is a tool like any other, if you specify limits and bounds it's still your work and your effort. You might not even need it and are just overthinking things. Rest some and then look things over again, see how it reads and you might not want to change anything after that.

So long as you use it as a tool to improve your work instead of letting it do the work for you then you may as well take advantage of the tools you have. My process usually involves asking it “what problems do you see with this?” repeatedly and often arguing with the AI back and forth.

Writing a book is an amazing accomplishment! In my opinion, my favorite authors are always the ones where you feel like you get to know their personality by reading their book! Of course, good editor can be helpful but a book doesn’t have to be ai-polished to have a compelling story that people want to read!
