His father, renowned painter and calligrapher Mahmoud Forouhar, greatly influenced his artistic development, encouraging him to explore various mediums and techniques.
Forouhar's early works predominantly focused on graphic design and illustrations, showcasing his mastery of line and color. He became a prominent figure in Tehran's burgeoning art scene during the 1960s and 1970s when he co-founded 'Shegeft-e Ranjgaran' (The Artists' Guild) - an influential group of artists aiming to revitalize traditional Iranian art forms while embracing modern artistic trends.
However, Forouhar's life took a tragic turn during the Iranian Revolution in 1979. Amid the political turmoil, his father, Mahmoud, and mother, Farrokhroo Parsa, a prominent politician, were arrested and later executed by the regime. This profound personal loss deeply impacted Forouhar and fueled his subsequent artistic work, particularly his exploration of themes related to human rights, politics, and cultural identity.
Throughout his career, Forouhar has exhibited his works internationally, gaining critical acclaim for his thought-provoking and visually striking pieces.
