Do u have to understand lyrics to understand a song?
im confused because I listen to songs with lyrics i dont understand from other languages and I know what the songs are about by the music itself and the tone of voice and emotion played in the song and I dont need to know the language to know what they're singing about and I thought everyone could do that but a lot of my friends say they like it but they dont understand it and im confused because I understand it and I dont speak the language either, do people not understand the story music tells just by the sound?

You don't understand it, you understand the feelings it evokes in you. There could be creative metaphors or clever play on words in the lyrics and it could be talking about something different than what you had in mind and you wouldn't even know about them because of the language barrier. (editat)
