Braley first captured national attention in the sports industry when he purchased the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 1989, a team that he proudly owned for 32 years. His ownership tenure was marked by a deep commitment to the development and success of the franchise. Under his guidance, the Tiger-Cats experienced both highs and lows, but Braley's unwavering support and financial investment undoubtedly helped shape the team into one of the CFL's most respected organizations.
In addition to his ownership of the Tiger-Cats, Braley also made a significant impact on the CFL as a whole. He served as the interim commissioner of the league from March to June 2002, during a crucial transitional period.
