I'm just lazy

Does this happen to anyone else? I've learned a lot about ADHD when I was studying psychology, as well as later in my university studies (social services) and so I feel quite knowledgable. I got diagnosed with ADHD back in April. Ive been waiting for this diagnosis for years, as Ive been on the wrong medication for a long time. Anyhow.. I go through episodes of feeling irritable, easily distracted, I can spend hours on hours daydreaming in bed, I sleep horribly, I forget to eat and take care of basic hygiene, and every single task feels like too much. Ive been telling myself "I'm being so lazy right now! Why can't I do anything?" And only now I'm starting to think... is this just what adhd paralysis like..? And since Ive been misdiagnosed for years, I havent learned to think that Im infact not lazy?

I suffer through much of the same... Though my meds have helped significantly with my ADHD I can now get through entire movies without focusing on something else... I used to literally bounce off of walls as a kid... You think normal kids are hyper? Try one with ADHD... I jumped over other kids... Couldn't stay in my seat so I tied my shoelaces to the desk to stop myself from running around the class. I often times had to draw to occupy my mind. Nowadays that energy is mostly gone.. My thoughts still go rapid and have caused some major anxieties recently... But its mostly depression I suffer from... I take 220 mg of antidepressants and its still not enough... anything is enough to trigger it... Seeing people show affection to their significant other, watching dramas, listening to music... And once its triggered... I'm hit with this crushing wave of sadness... I sometimes don't want to get out of bed... I don't know what is compelling me to keep going forward... Its like there is a rope attached to me pulling my lifeless body forward. The important thing is the focus on your strengths... Not your weaknesses... Because once you do you crumble... Don't sweat the chores... Do them at your own pace... You may have to trick your brain... Like I generally don't have the energy to workout so I've tricked my brain... Instead of working out I carry most of the groceries... I lift the heaviest objects at work. I walk to work which is over a quarter of a mile to and from.

No, I'm pretty extreme adhd but have learned to control and hyper-refocus. It too me is a strength. Although I do get mentally burned out running all the time thinking and distractions but learning to refocus and with out the use of any drug besides sheer mental willpower is how I handle it. Too me, it honestly sounds like your mentally over stimulated to the point tasks pile up, and you get overwhelmed and basically shutdown/cool down. That's normal, not healthy normal but normal. I suggest, finding something your passionate about, hobby, or someone who you can equally confide in/focus on, and go from there. It will help at least in my personal experience. Helped me stay on task, and stay motivated. This inturn for me, personally made it easier to systematically tackle tasks. I'd overly focus super hard on things but accomplish tasks much more efficiently. May take training/time getting down a system that works for you, so you don't have shutdowns.

Just seems like you got a lot going through your mind. Take things a step at a time instead of in bulk. Give yourself some time you mentally recoup when needed. Set achievable goals and appreciate yourself for achieving them. It's all about mentality and getting a hold on yours. You seem like a very capable person. I believe in you, have a great day.

Emotional Regulation Success

I doubt anyone will be as proud of myself as I am, but I successfully was able to realize when I was emotionally dysregulated at work and got myself back to regulation using my coping mechanisms. This is the first time it actually felt like a success. Progress was made today. 😌

How do you remember everything

I keep forgetting my meds until I'm rudely reminded by my pain increasing that i havent.
