I don't really have a need to share this with my peers or colleagues... as I'd find it... awkward... I think being semi-anonymous here helps though to relieve the burden a bit. I went for a walk the other day and I found a stray Brown, fancy rat. People just walked around it not minding it. It was clearly a domestic pet, clean, healthy, bright eyes, clean ears, nice fur... however it was injured. Had a broken leg and difficulties breathing, small amount of blood coming out of its nostrils. I picked it up, it was cold... and took it to a vet. The doctor told me it was a female brown rat, very well taken care of π she was beautiful and if there would be nobody claiming ownership that they lost her, i would love to keep her. However... the wounds it suffered were too severe. She had probably fell outside of someone's window and even broke a few ribs. Could not even keep her body temperature. The doctor said she does not have good prognosis to survive this... so I decided to put her to sleep. I have known her for just about an hour and I am glad she was not alone at her last moments. Someone might say... dude it was just a "rat," but... take care of your pets. This one is sniffing around up there and is not coming back... ππ―
