If you're fan of The Expanse, this one is a must watch.
I never expected an anime to hit this close to home. It's an anime about Debris cleaning crew in the early stages of human colonisation of the Solar system. The pace is slower and it ponders over topics that I never expected in an anime- it really explores interesting ideas of early space habitation including political issues, medical and health issues, even insurance issues. A core theme of Planetes is how the characters conflict with the overwhelmingly vast emptiness of space and how they fight back by embracing their humanity. Perhaps one of the best hard sci-fi shows. Take it from an Aerospace engineer, you'll learn more about orbital mechanics here than in an lecture hall.
