Evangelion is less depressing and more irritating towards the end honestly.. Still evil to recommend, knowing how messed up the ending is xD At the same time i find it funny how many people recommend Death Note that similarly has a good run but a terribly bad ending.

@David The most traumatizing scene in Evangelion for me is when Unit 01 is killing Unit 03 and Shinji couldn't do anything. I was shivering while watching that scene.
