I don't pay any attention to fanbases. They aren't important or relevant to my experience of the media. Also for every unpleasant/crazy person in a fanbase there are 10 perfectly normal and well-adjusted people. The key is learning to not go into spaces that promote behaviors that you find alienating our disinteresting. Direct example: I like my hero academia, and not just a little. I have a poster on my wall, I'm up to date on the anime, and I rate it pretty highly. That said, I've never engaged in any of the behaviors you mentioned in your reply to Kenyatta. I understand that for some people consuming media is primarily a social endeavor, but for me at least I consume media for it's own merits. Maybe that's just because I'm an INTJ, idk. 😆
