Do humans have two brains...?🤔
Yep almost something like that... first time i came across this fact....😮 The enteric nervous system is often referred to as our body's second brain. There are hundreds of million of neurons connecting the brain to the enteric nervous system, the part of the nervous system that is tasked with controlling the gastrointestinal system. (Correction and additional facts are welcome😌)

I'm not sure I'd go as far as to call it a second brain... Perhaps the enteric nerves are just so abundant that they have a profound effect on our homeostasis and are early indicatiors that something might not be right in the GI tract... But also, our sympathetic nervous system (automatic brain responses) will upchuck food when there is a fight-or-flight response to prioritize blood flow to the peripheral portions of the body instead of digesting. There's also something to be said for the microbiome of the human GI tract, symbiosis, etc. etc.

Curious about pursuing either Zoology or Marine Biology for my bachelor degree 🤔
Hey! So I'm about to start working (during the season) for my local zoo and go to community college for my associates in Biology. I begin online classes in the fall which I am both excited and a little nervous to start this journey for my degree. I'm 28 years old so I'm a little late to the game... read more
