7Trying to get back into reading…
I don’t really know what’s changed, tbh, I use to read a lot when I was younger, I loved reading books as a boy. I still remember my favorite series, Goosebumps; I owned almost the whole collection and I was proud of that. The countless nights of staying up late with my flashlight reading these scary tales in the dark, under my blankets, it was a thrill for me as a child. I still love horror as a man, something about it is just mystifying to me. Maybe it’s the technology, maybe it’s the focus, maybe I just haven’t found a book that I could connect to, could just everything, I dunno. But I’ve always had a fascination with Boris Karloffs Frankenstein, the monster, so much so that I read Mary Shelley’s novel in High School and I remember really enjoying it. Recently, watched Guillermo Del Toro’s rendition of Frankenstein and I admire his visionary perspective of the film, such a great movie. So, I spoke with a friend and she came up with the idea of reading the book to revisit my adolescent experience as an adult, we’ll see how this goes.
