Sons and Soldiers by Bruce Henderson is a magnificently written true tale about German born Jews who escaped the Holocaust and returned to fight Nazi oppression as members of intelegence and reconnaissance units called ritchie boys. A great fantasy is the Legend of Huma by Richard A Knaak, dragons, minotaurs, orders of knights, dark goddesses the whole shabang. Another great fantasy is The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart it's about Merlin the wizard from the legend of King arthur but it's him as a young man. A little bit less dragons and magic and a little more prophecy and classic midievil. And my personal favorite The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho which is about a boy named Santiago seeking a treasure it's definitely worth a read. (edited)
