best romance books?
especially ones with a mature relationship and with a grander plot them the romance itself. since people added lots of amazing reccs, here are mine. Daevabad trilogy, and red rising series. and most brandon sanderson books. all offer nuanced mature characters, a really good world and narrative besides the romance. and non traditional romance roles.

Brandon Sanderson, Stormlight in particular, so good! I think he is a fine representation of fantasy offering mature and relatable characters.

How do you feel about fantasy and a new spin on fairy tales? If that's your speed I recommend One Good Knight by Mercedes Lackey. It's the second book of a series though, so you might want to read The Fairy Godmother first. Excellent character development, especially in the Knight book.
