It's hard for me to find friends who like to go camping. I had no prior camping experience, and there were several traumatic experiences when I went out alone that made me afraid to leave the house without company. But I really want to go camping at least once.

If you have never had experience camping before, Do Not Go Alone! It could be very dangerous for someone with no experience alone in the wilderness. Now at a campground with a front office and others around, you would probably be okay.

How much camping experience do you have? If you've done regular camping in groups before and want to try by yourself for a change, it really shouldn't be a problem so long as you start off solo'ing somewhere thats not that remote at first, and then just go farther and farther as you feel more confident. I do regular solo and very remote camping here in South Africa which has one of the highest murder and violent crime rates in the world - I guess it helps that I am male but its also just about knowing and reading your surroundings, where it is safe to go and the do's and dont's while at your camping grounds. I've walked with just a single backpack through mountain ranges, thick valleys and even just a couple kilo's from a huge rural settlement, all without a single whiff of trouble I'm also looking for a hiking and camping buddy, especially someone who's interested in plants, so if you travel alot and find yourself in Africa someday, let me know and I can show you around :)

Just be safe if you do try to go alone, it's a crazy world out there. Still see if you can find at least one person, I think camping is enjoyable. But it can be a bit more fun with some company instead of just being on your own.
