Analog vs digital

Older cars, as in before about 1995 or so, are overall a better value than " modern" cars because anyone with even a rudimentary amount of knowledge could fix or even improve them with basic tools. ECUs and tech have turned the beloved automobile into a disposable appliance.

I prefer analog. The more complex you make something there is a higher chance for something to wrong because you add more that can go wrong. And when something does break it becomes expensive and complex to replace. Haveing to sort through wiring or search for a broken fuze. And the parts get more expensive too as you make things more complex. Don't overcomplicate things. Keep it simple

older cars may offer more mechanical simplicity and the ability to be easily fixed or modified with basic tools, they also often lack modern safety features, fuel efficiency, and technological advancements. On the other hand, modern cars may have more advanced technology and safety features, but they also often come with higher maintenance costs and the need for specialized tools and training to perform repairs. Ultimately, the choice between older and modern cars is a trade-off between reliability and cost, versus convenience and advanced features.

That's a generational thing I have a friend who's a couple years younger than me and mainly his own '60s and '70s cars and my 2014 Focus seems like high-tech wizardry to him whereas I'm just used to working on it
