pet loss wasn't a tag but it probably should be one. anyway I've lost 6 cats this month bc of Distemper and I'm not ok mentally. I can't do anything other then sit and wait for the next cat to drop. most if not all of my cats are rescues, I live on a farm so cats and kittens just appear. we usually get them friendly and get the fixed but I guess (bc I don't actually know were it came from) our last trip to the spay/neuter clinic brought the virus here. everytime I think it's almost over another cat dies. I have to take 1 of mine I'm for antibiotics and fluids today so she can have a minute chance but seeing as only 2 that have had that have survived out of 9 cats. we vaccinated everyone but if they already had it before hand then there's nothing to be done. this virus can take up to 2 weeks to show symptoms. sorry this is long I just wanted to vent to people who won't just tell me "it's just a cat" thank you

Is there not a distemper vaccine for cats? Not that it would help during an active outbreak, but in the future? In any case I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this kind of loss.

Losing my dog was tough. I can't imagine losing 6 pets all at once. I don't get why anyone would downplay something like that. A quick search says there weren't clinical improvements for this treatment in this virus, but it could be worth a try anyway - a treatment for some viral infections involves transfusion of antibodies from a recovered patient. If one of your cats is doing better it may be worth asking your vet (edited)
