Prepping your party for Valentines day
Just a quick reminder to all the adventuring parties out there. Your party members really don't want flowers while you are out questing. Flowers die, both in your backpack or in a bag of holding. Instead, get them a Mace of Roses! It is long lasting, can be used as a weapon (in TTRPGs only!), and can lead to the most comical of encounters with your party and various monsters. Stat block: Mace of Roses: Weapon (mace), rare, requires attunement Description: Forged from enchanted steel chainmail and wrapped in thorny vines, the Mace of Roses is equal parts romance and punishment. Its head resembles a blooming rose wrought in crimson metal, and it smells faintly of perfume… until it smashes into someone’s face. Stats: Damage: 1d8 bludgeoning (+ 1d6 chromatic: red - fire, black - necrotic, blue - ice, etc) Special: On a critical hit, the target is showered with illusory rose petals. Allies within 10 feet gain advantage on their next Charisma (Persuasion) check as the scene looks so romantic. Thorned Rebuke: Once per long rest, the wielder may cause the mace to sprout spectral thorns. The next attack deals an additional 2d6 psychic damage, flavored as “the sting of rejection.” Additional info for DMs: If the wielder’s romantic partner did not receive actual roses, the Mace of Roses mysteriously grows heavier in their hands, as though demanding justice. Lovers joke that this weapon is the “bouquet of last resort.” Forget the chocolates? Expect a concussion. Tavern bards sing: “Roses are red, violets are blue, forget the bouquet, and this mace finds you.” The mace hums a soft ballad when swung, usually off-key. If gifted to a partner, it counts as both a weapon and a Valentine’s present… though most agree flowers are safer. Some adventurers claim the mace whispers, “You should have bought roses,” every time it lands a hit.
