I've seen so many profiles on here and other places where a person explicitly says they don't want to have small talk. I want to know what the problem is with it. To me small talk is saying things like "How was your day?""How are you doing?""Anything fun planned for today?" When I ask these kinds of questions it's because I genuinely want to know and because I care about how the person I'm talking to is feeling. I understand that asking only these kinds of questions would be dull and boring. I would like to believe however that any ONE question could lead to a more fulfilling and fun conversation. What do you all think? Is it good, bad, moderate? Am I the only one who doesn't have a real problem with it? Why is it a problem to you?

If other person reciprocates I have the issue that they will talk about everything going on with them and then not try to find out what's going on with me and at that point it feels like I have to carry the conversation and find the next topic and that right there is just to turn off (edited)

small talk is like en exchange that means "i want that from you" or "i would like to talk to you more" and i think people who explicitly hate on small talk completely miss the point of it.. i wouldnt want to have a deep spiritual or philosophical discussion with someone who isnt capable of or willing to discuss the weather for example :)
