Yes but in the UK it's sometimes a red leister mixed with a cheddar of some kind. Though there are dozens if not hundreds like a chilli marbled cheese, nettle aged and Herbie and fruity.

Yes, it's a common kind of cheese here in the US. They will mix cheddar with Monterey Jack, which I think is a uniquely American cheese. In our case, it's just a milder cheddar kind of flavor.
