Can someone explain why Qd1??

Qd1 Nd4, Rh5 Rb1, RxQh6+ Kg7, Qg4+ Kf6, Qg5# Rh5 can skewer the king and queen on the h-file, if someone guarded h5. So is the reason Qd1 is preferred, which also can march in afterwards to checkmate?

Chess regrets of 2025

Looking back at 2025, the only effort I made towards chess was puzzles. I even helped an 11y child beat me twice back to back. You have to have time to commit to learning chess, otherwise you can't get anywhere.
