Where do I start?

After much rumination about myself, what's going on in the world and God in the last few years I have come to understand my God given purpose. It's a daunting task to be sure. Yet I'm just completely unsure where to even start. As through my own experience and observations, I'm not even sure who can be trusted. Who's faith is true, and who's isn't. For example: Jesus' most ardent opponents was the Pharisees from the Church of His time. Eventually, getting Him crucified. I have learned through reading these posts here that Catholics learn, and trust, the teachings of Jesus *through* the Church. The sheer irony of that is unbelievable. Monumental even. I have read for 13 years comments on Youtube talking of The Second Coming and Revelations. Yet Christians are more divided than ever. Something I have said to Christians before. Not only is there the different Factions. There are Churches that exist bearing names based on ethnicity. If not that. Churches touting "The Current Thing" politicians are shoving in everyone's faces. A question I have: should The Second Coming be fulfilled... Do you not think the Church would be the most ardent opponents yet again? Who would you side with? Believe? Trust? After all, there is nothing worse for an established, institutionalised Religion than a living Messiah. Jesus said that Himself regarding Prophets being seldom loved in their home town and family.

You are so dead on with what you have said and described. The Bible talks about just a remnant being real believers through the whole history not just in the last days. in Revelation 2 Jesus has a word for the 7 churches in Asia, to each except one, He has rebuking words to say, warning and calling for repentance. It’s sobering really, personally and collectively. People lift up and worship religious establishments because they put their trust and hope for salvation in them and in their teachings as opposed to the one true living God and His Son Jesus. God says: “cursed is the man who puts his trust in man” and I believe that it’s what we are seeing. Not talking only about the Catholic Church, where the pope claims to be the actual Jesus 🤦🏻‍♀️ and warns against the dangers of reading the scriptures by your own without the teachings of the Catholic Church to interpret it for you 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ but also in the Protestant/evangelical church, the same adoration of certain men and teachers and teachings are lifted up above Gods word and the call to faith and trust in Jesus. Jesus warns about a great deception coming over the face of the world in the last days. It’s reaching all aspects of life but especially the spiritual one. People professing to have been awakened and practice spirituality outside of Gods given commandments of what worshiping Him means and should be like are being deceived in droves. It’s beyond heartbreaking, and his true church is called to pray and stay faithful to God, believing He alone can save up to the very last moment.

This is what bothers me the most. I have only read the book of Matthew and Mark as a church minister coincidentally named John said Matthew is a good start point. Yet within only those two chapters I was speechless, amazed and furious at what I read. My genuine response is "This is what Christians have had access to for centuries and yet 2000 years later still have learnt nothing?!" The Parable of the Sower reveals who truly are believers and who aren't. For if one cannot perceive nor understand truth with their own eyes or ears. How can they claim to be faithful? If they need to be taught The Bible. Can they truly claim to be enlightened? One reason the term or idea of Bible study irks me so much. It is the problem of people saying they are of a certain faith, yet say they don't adhere to the commandments / teachings as best they can. Nor are willing to fight to defend their faith. They pick and choose when it suits them. All this tolerance of degeneracy and such is ridiculous considering Jesus said "I have come not to bring peace, but the sword." Yet Churches and certain Christians constantly tout being peaceful, accepting and tolerant. Was Rome's downfall not warning enough? Which is why I also ask: would The Second Coming refuse to lift a finger until Humanity, learn the value of and desire once more God to be the central pillar of society and civilization?

@Paul Blown once again by what you’ve said. So true! Did you know that soon after the institutionalization of the Catholic Church the Bible was not accessible anymore to the lay person? It was with Martin Luther in the 15th century reading the scriptures when God moved powerfully in him and revealed the truth about who Jesus is and what the work of God truly was, that he started the reformation movement and the printing of the Bible giving access to the layman. Wars and persecution and execution were waged for hundreds of years to come against Christian’s professing faith and salvation and Jesus as presented in the scripture. It was the first time the Catholic Church lost its grip on people. And not long after the Protestantism wasn’t attacked, hence came the “scientific and evolution” theories that shook the church up to today, having Christian’s by their own doing reduce the Bible to a set of anecdotes and nice stories. Then came the humanism and the idea that the man is inheriently good, that they don’t need God, and now backed up by the spiritual awakening movement that basically teaches that you have to meditate, do this and that and the other and in an unknown numbers of lifetimes they will finally reach liberation… 🤦🏻‍♀️ The same old from the beginning of time, the devil through one way or the other tempting humans with the same question “did God really say?” Can you trust His word? Can you trust the Bible? And even if with proof of the reliability of Gods word people still reject it. But the most amazing thing is that Gods word is living with power to save, and what you have written proves that He is revealing himself to you! God says in the Bible that “he desires that none should perish, but come to eternal life” … and that life starts here. He is faithful, even when the church is not. He reaches out to people every day and even in the darkness we live through today He still saves. Because that’s what love does. There are two somewhat documentaries that if you haven’t seen already I think would help you loads, both to understand what is going in the church globally but also about Gods faithfulness. One is American Gospel - In Christ Alone And the second is American Gospel - Christ Crucified Keep on reading his word, the more you read the more you see and understand of what’s going on within yourself but also globally. There are so many misconceptions about the last days, when the antichrist will come many will believe he is the messiah, each religion will say it’s the incarnation of Jesus, The Muslim messiah, Buddah, Krishna etc. because he will preach love and peace outside Gods word. He will be well received because a series of catastrophical events will occur, some of which have already started to unfold and people will be weary and tired of unrest. But after a few years his true nature will start to show. He is not love, n’or peace. The Bible refers to Satan as a fallen Angel who mascarades/shapeshifts in an Angel of light.

@Andrea It was also King James Version that robbed the Catholics of power as they could no longer pick and choose what could be read / seen. Even if he did it for political reasons, and his own benefit though not really successful, it broke control over who could read The Bible. I've actually had two encounters when talking about The Devil with Christians and both times it was dismissed, or not replied to, as him being only a spiritual enemy. Rather than something actively tempting and trying to subvert Humanity. I appreciate the recommendations. However, God already revealed His hand to me at a time when I most needed respite and had no direction after days of hardship. It came from a man who delivered me that respite after only 20 - 30 mins of talking with me, I was homeless, booked me into a hotel for three nights at cost to himself of £186.75. When I asked why he simply said with a smile "I have God's love and I am spreading His love." Once I reflected on that experience, and others, it was clear to me of His existence. That coupled with my own understanding of my existence and purpose, there is nothing that can be said to convince God is not real nor absolute. From my own observations and understanding it has already been proven through history that people who venerate and adhere to The Bible, Jesus and God will embrace prosperity and strength. All else will lead to eventual self-destruction. God's commandments are simple, yet ultimately effective. As Jesus said "All laws of man are inherently selfish." When I thought about it, it's certainly true. A man does not forbid something because it is wrong, it is so he may have control over it. Look at drugs for example. Most curious thing in history is the Byzantine Empire. Founded with The Bible, Jesus and God as their central pillars, only to be brought down, not by the outright might of the Ottomans; by the betrayal of the 4th Crusade orchestrated by the Pope / Catholics. Quite interesting since Constantinople was considered the greatest Christian city and not the Vatican.

@Paul Thank you for sharing this! I am truly touched to hear how God in his love reached out to you and continues to faithfully do so! Satan is very real. He is the personhood of evil, and has his own kingdom of minions and angels serving him to bring humanity to unter destruction and deceiving them from knowing their Creator and Father. He works on all imaginable levels, he’s been reduced in peoples mind as a thing with horns and a pitch-fork almost harmless. Or to some he doesn’t even exist. It’s all God they say both good and evil 😞 it’s turning my stomach up even to write that. But even if he is real, and is powerful and a deceiver he still has no authority over God and Jesus. And his days are numbered. All who put their trust in the living God shall be saved. Just the idea of salvation speaks volumes to how unaware we are as humans of our lostnesses and depravity and basically inability to save ourselves ever, and how loving and gracious God is.

Some things I have noticed...

Not very many Christians use this app. I know I discovered it entirely because I am fascinated with psychology. I am slowly accepting that matches suggested this app won't lead to a realtionship. But still enjoy talking with others. Anyone else feel the same?

Biblical Creation

Perhaps I'm stirring the pot a bit, but I'm curious about the range of views here. What are your thoughts on biblical creation? Do the early chapters of Genesis accurately record our history?
