💯agree with you there. It’s isolating af. But as a woman, it’s really hard to find someone who wants to provide and keep the traditional values -including extended families. When I ask a man what the plan is for his ageing is parents, I’m always told that the parents will go into a care home. In the old fashioned model, the wife would be the caretaker, and that would include the elderly parents. But there has to be a provider to allow for that. Being a provider is a lot cheaper than having inheritance drained by care home costs. For me, hyper-independence is a trauma response (edited)

Men should not be looked at as the sole provider and women should not be look at as the sole person to take care of the household. Both ideas are outdated for the challenges that face modern society.
