Yes, I put this up as comedy cuz this country is a joke. Lol. Can't get a sensor for my type 1 diabetes because my insurance doesn't want to cover it. Went to see my doctor today and she said I could get a sensor from another place, but turns out they don't accept Medicaid just Medicare. I'm guessing I'm not going to make it to a very old age. I bet I'm gone by my 60s. Honestly, can't wait.. I'm over it.

Let me make it just a teensy bit worse - Back before Trump won the first time, I had been working for the insurance company that administers the federal health insurance plans for Congress and the president (the president usually has health insurance more for a show of solidarity instead of actually using it). At that time, ACA was causing insurance companies to lose so much money that our company was actually lobbying for a transition to a single-payer healthcare system. It made sense for us because we were already offering federal employees insurance, so our idea was to just expand that model. So my job, as a strategy analyst, was to pull together data that showed how much better a single payer option would be for everyone. ACA actually got insurance companies on board with the idea and we were confident that if the government liked our idea for a pilot program in the DC area, we could talk other insurance companies into adopting our model to spread this kind of coverage outward. We had several meetings in Congress to share our research, pitch the model for expanding access, and it even made it as a topic on the mainstream news where more people liked this idea too (I will forgive you for not remembering seeing as it was RIGHT before the election). And then Trump won and like the first or second action he took in office was to publicly state he wanted to kill ACA, wrote nastygrams to insurance companies, and called my CEO’s plan for expanding access “communist propaganda”. My CEO retired about 6 months later and all of the research I spent years on was scrapped. And that’s why we don’t have single-payer healthcare today.

Free health care isn't perfect over here. I've been needing an appointment for years now and I haven't been able to get one because the list is all backed up in a country of almost 70 million. So imagine that same system being put in place in a country of 340 million people. Free healthcare is most effective in a country with a small population. Let alone free healthcare would also partly be taken advantage of by non citizens too backing up the lists for appointments. A 90 year old died in the UK recently due to waiting way too long for an ambulance because of how backed up the NHS has been.

Often, appeals for coverage are successful. Bunch of hoops to jump through, yes, but it's likely your appeal will be accepted. Doctors can also submit additional documentation to support your urgent medical need. Sorry to hear that, that is disappointing. I hope you get what you need with the benefits you have.

Can you or loved one make a go fund me maybe u can put ot kn here or somewhere wherever its allowed. I would donate to it if u do and im sure im not the only who would. I've been many times where I had no one to care if I was alive or dead. My hearts with you. I am on disabikity , medicaid and Medicare and ive had tines where life saving medications and procedures were not covered and suffered. One of was to treat my asthma. One of the things my insurance does and should not be legal is they require my personal information feom therapy etc notes in order to be paid for. All my personal depression and ptsd information. Insurance companies often sre invading privacy of mental health (sharing to third party or other sharing of private information) as well as refusing to pay for medications that are life saving. Many dont have insurance at all. My dentist plan is a pain. They stopped paying for gym. They use to pay for ymca which so I cannot do that. Ymca has many classes and has pool etc and now I have to pay for a gym membership each month. Our insurances just arent being as well for our wellbeing. Our produce Our supplies our wellness costs are unbelievable. Water!?!?! How much many of us dont know how much water is when cant afford it. The cost of water especially when homeless. For ling tine havent gotten food stamps really. Yet im disabled. I've met so many disabled or medical hardship people when I was homeless. I've more than once not had insurance and I have serious health conditions as well. I do not have diabetes I have a seizure condition, respiratory/asthma, allergies, and fibromyalgia and other , clotting dosorder, genetic disorder etc. I find people like you and people with who are fighters to be extraordinary. You are inspiring even of you dont know it right now. Im glad you chose to let others know that you feel about this so ur not so alone. (edited)
