Spontaneous humour that makes your friend circle laugh Is easier than comedy on a global scale. With friends they probably already find you funny so stuff you say is automatically funnier than if somebody else said it, plus the jokes probably don't need context as they are your friends and probably know the reference points. Writing jokes that are funny enough to a large enough population to make a living from is a different beast. I don't think it's the sort of thing that anybody that's made someone laugh once or twice could do. If you have that one friend who everyone thinks is funny that person could possibly do it after a few years of honing their craft, nailing their delivery and carving out a niche. I doubt Bob who drives for amazon who cracked a funny that one time is gonna be making major p's doing stand up. Podcasting however, alot of people who are considered funny could make a living via podcasts as the audience soon get to learn their personality and the podcasters can bounce of eachother being spontaneous.
