Why is society so quick to give advice on getting over an ex, but never give any good advice on how to help a couple overcome their issues? When I was in my 4 year relationship, everyone would advice me to leave him, never any advice on how to make things better… Am I just bitter or is it real that people don’t want to see couples get better and stronger together? They would rather them be lonely like everyone else.

Because it is easier to break than it is to build. It's not that people don't want to see things work out, it's that they lack the emotional connection that you have with a partner. Their advice does not factor in the emotional ties between you and your partner. Outside looking in.

People are so quick to think they know the ins and outs of someone's relationship and their superiority complex enables them to jump the gun and convince vulnerable people to make life changing decisions like leaving their partner over fixable mistakes. If it's not infidelity or the like, most issues can be fixed through couples counseling. But people like the idea that they can convince u to leave.

Some people don't understand the importance of communication. They would rather sweep problems under the rug rather than confront them and talk it through and come to a mutual understanding like adults. Rather they should understand each other's perspectives and learn how to move forward

I think people are genuniney trying to help, but it's pretty hard for people to give advice on something really complex with only limited information. Plus some people get offended when trying to offer advice on their relationship. And there may be something to be said about the fact that in our culture we don't get taught or focus on resolving issues in relationships, we're brought up with movies and stories about perfect couples and never see how to move past obstacles together.
