Baffling

I don't understand why an 18 yr old can purchase firearms. But they have to wait until 21yrs to vote for president. I would rather have an 18 yr old buy alcohol than an automatic weapon. Makes NO sense!

First of all, the voting age in the United States is 18 as secured by the 26th amendment, has been since Vietnam. Secondly, most people can't buy automatic weapons whether they are 18+ or 21+. 18 year olds are allowed to buy rifles and shotguns in which one trigger pull shoots one bullet. No pistols until 21 and nobody can buy an automatic without significant licencing. As for the drinking age, I don't agree with it as I think all rights guaranteed to citizens should come with whatever the voting age is (18 in this case) but the reasoning is that people in the 16-21 range are much more likely to drink and drive and cause fatal car crashes. I was a firearm owner at 18 and I can tell you, a drunk teenager is a lot more of a potential risk than a teenager with a rifle. Still think drinking age should be 18 though on the basis that adults should be expected to be in control of themselves and should simply be held accountable if they aren't.

I remember when I went to America to study at university, and I went to Walmart the first time. I can buy groceries, clothes, Stationaries, and GUNS just like an every day item. Like wtf
