Empathy is a skill that can be learnt but like with a lot skills some people are just naturals at it. I am not one of them but I've come a long way

Empathy implies more of an emotional connection, so for most of us yes it can be, but it isn't uncommon for people to be born without the capability to empathize.

False, you either have it or you don't, it can't be learned, those that say it can don't know what their talking about.. being ignorant to empathy and not having it are 2 different things... I don't have empathy that why I'm not afraid to call out stupid people, because I will never be in their shoes..

True, for the most part. I think that most people are born with the ability to empathise, however, not everyone ends up being empathetic. You start out as a kid that does only what's best for them, and as the time goes by, you (should) learn how to be considerate of others. Through rewards and punishments, through your experiences, through talking and listening to others etc. Psychopaths are an irregularity, though, as they are born without the ability to empathize with others. They can't learn to be empathetic like everyone else, and they don't want to.

I think it's a part of a person personality. You feel, or you don't.

True, to really have empathy and perfect it you kind of need to understand the person you are feeling empathetic towards

Its something that can be developed but it won't get far without some innate talent at it

For our personality types, yes it's a skill that we need to learn and develop coz we lack that. It is needed for us to survive any kinds of relationships not only for romantic ones but also for friendships, families, community, work environment.. etc.

Yup. Empathy is a skill and can be developed. In its simplest form, empathy would be awareness of the feelings and emotions of other people. Think of "stepping into their shoes and walking a mile" kinda thing. It can be developed by examining one's biases, stepping out of their comfort zone, cultivating curiousity and receiving feedback. This would, at times, lead to difficult yet respectful conversations. The key is to listen and not interrupt.
