So I've been single for a while and decided to get out of my comfort zone and give people a chance because I'd like to be in a relationship. So although I installed the app for finding friends globally, I really tried to get to know the local man. And my god dating is hard! Like I've met so many weird guys and heard so many weird stuff. Honestly from time to time I feel drained. It takes a lot of energy to keep putting yourself out there and meeting people whose minds are so horrifyingly ugly. Anyway just wanted to vent here and you can feel free to vent in the comments. Finding "the one" is so damn difficult.

First off - stay strong. Secondly - 'The one' is just a silly concept really. I'll echo what some of the people here have said: Your partner should be your best friend at worst. Real relationships are based on mutual respect, honor and trust no matter what type, don't let the people playing 'house' fool you - outward appearances mean nothing if the innards are rotten. I didn't even get to the point of dating from these apps and that's fine; I live in Israel, and finding likeminded and kind-hearted people here is just the way it is (but I am VERY lucky to have met the friends I have, that is not a given). I enjoy meeting good people, but quite a few people have this bug in their head, where they think the online world is some separate reality. Dating in general is exhausting, 10 fold when it comes to online dating. Regardless of what you do, you will get drained. If you match with anyone, don't allow to get suckered into "what if", imaginary, dream land. Long distance relationships are difficult on top of everything else that is bagged up in a typical in-person relationship. One thing for sure you won't get back is your time. What you invest emotionally. You have to get to know them, get comfortable and get reassurance to meet in person. Always meet in public and never invite them to your place. (Why not, because of creepers and the possibilities that they can turn psycho fatal attraction) That's why it's called dating. You go through people like a page in a book. Personality, chemistry, body language, vulnerabilityto a certain extent and trust your gut feeling. Have situational awareness. Communicate and comprehend.
