Like let's say a man has the means to take you out on a date but within limits and he expects you to come to him since he doesn't drive and he ubers to get around. He has no car of his own which in your eyes since you're likely to not want to be the one to drive him everywhere he is now considered useless in that area. Another example is he does have a car so now he has a use but he has a modest living arrangement and can't afford to do anything extravagant and as a result he is useless to you in a sense that you can't have fancy dates or vacations. And here's the most common example, he has no car, has a job but still lives with family and now if you were to give him a chance you would have to wait quite a while for him to have enough money to have his own spot but until then he's useless to you at that moment. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question, but these would not be "useless" traits of a man to me. "Useless" would be if he was a total bum with no job, ambition, or motivation. As for the hesitation, it could be general fear. Some men don't take rejection well, especially if they feel insecure or "useless" as you say. I personally wouldn't hesitate to reject a man i found useless but hey, everyone is different and everyone defines their ideal of a partner in different ways.
