A couple of months ago, I got rejected pretty harshly by this woman that I was beginning to be interested in. I was taking my time to see if we were a good fit. We talked a lot about relationships and life goals, so I saw great potential in our commonalities there. During this event that we attended together, she went on about how she went on a date with this guy who she met at a previous event. I was upset on so many different levels. One of the ways in which I was trying to get to know her as to invite her to events. With my luck, she naturally met someone else at one of them and decided to date him. A few other guys, too. She was all excited while telling me about this, on top of that. Here I was just trying to figure out if I liked her when I realized that I led her into the arms of others. An idiot, I surely am. My biggest mistake was not asking her out sooner, perhaps. However, because she wasn’t exclusive, I decided to, anyway. She refused. To my surprise, she didn’t even know that I was interested. I asked for her number and invited her to a cooking class. I thought that I was being pretty obvious for where I was at that time. I suppose not. Apparently, all of those other guys were good enough, but not me. Not the guy who I thought that she was interested in, too. I could go on about how I think that I’m better and that she made a mistake, but I don’t care. I was the fool for wasting my time on someone who I see now wasn’t good for me. She was vapid and disingenuous in the way that she spoke. I only noticed after I lost interest in her. Everyone that I built in my mind of her was an illusion. Some might disagree, but I believe that she led me on. She was sorry for that, at least, not that I cared at that point. L She wanted to stay friends, but I had no interest. I blocked her later that night. The big problems came when I told my friends about this. Many believe that I made a mistake in blocking her. They insist that I was just trying to have sex with her and that there’s a lot of value to friendship with a woman. I need new friends, clearly. I very much dislike sex and would have waited until marriage, if that. I have many female friends. I just don’t want to be friends with women who reject me. Am I supposed to just watch her date other guys who she chose over me and just take it? Am I supposed to be grateful for the friendship? There’s so much entitlement, honestly. When she turned me down, I was fine moving on. She didn’t owe me a relationship. However, I don’t owe her a friendship. We didn’t know each other for long, anyway. Still, people think that I should kiss the ground that she walked on when I really needed comfort after being turned down. I was very disheartened by those close to me more than anything in this situation. Why can’t people accept when other people just don’t want to be friends?
