1For the longest time, I thought I was just unlucky in love. But relationship psychology reveals a deeper, aching truth: our nervous system unconsciously seeks out the familiar, even if the familiar is a chaotic loop of unhealthy attachments. We think we are moving forward, only to realize we've walked right back into the same storm, just with a different person and a different name. 6The idea that "we attract what feels familiar" completely ignores that sometimes we simply encounter people who aren't worth it, without it having to do with some "internal wound" we're trying to fix. It's a view that tends to blame the individual for circumstances that are often much more random or external than what social media algorithms want us to believe. In the end, one is the owner of their decisions and their stories, and we are not always the ones writing the script for others. Although, thinking about it, if fate insists on sending us interesting "characters" to keep life from being boring, I guess we could at least ask it to choose someone with better taste next time, don't you think? Or maybe you just prefer me to avoid all that drama....
