It is written in the ages

In an age of ageism where does a 57 year old man fit in? What is written for the young and the old? We are all prone to ageism for good reason. Two people of a similar generation will understand each other. Yet sometimes empathy can cross the divide of decades. A seventy years old woman may date a fifty year old man. Many relationships have a few years or a decade difference. How do you feel about age? Do you feel your age? What age is your soul? Age is a perspective. He is an old man to someone young and a young man to someone old. Is he past his use by date? Has his appeal expired? Should he date older women or younger women? What is appropriate for this man? I know one thing. We must establish our own boundaries and determine what is right for ourselves. We might also consider what is morally and ethically appropriate. What should never happen. No man should be predatory or seek to exploit vulnerability, but rather become a protector of innocence and virtue, doing nothing out of a quest for self satisfaction or gratification. Protect innocence always. Young men may seek to dominate women to prove their self worth, but learn over time that if self worth is built on the sand of physical desire, all that energy is wasted and lost to time. The older man learns to build on solid foundations. Learning that givers get. What you put out, you get back. That it's not the quantity of time that you have, but the quality of your time that matters. Stop being frivolous. Start being genuine. Whatever your age.
