Alternative Dating, Asking for Advice

Not much of a bar guy or clubber but I get around. Does anyone have any advice for actually meeting singles in alternative spaces other than the club? The coffee shops and record stores are a cliche and it doesn’t feel appropriate to approach someone at their place of work. I get out, go on walks, tour museums, even do more niche things like go to vendor markets, wineries, butterfly releases. Lots of old folks, churchgoers or just plain old country people. I don’t mind long drives into the city but it’s not practical. Where might I meet more emo friends?
