One thing I've noticed through different questions regarding dating and socializing is there there seems to be the idea that you should never settle or compromise who you are for others, that there's someone for everyone, and that you shouldn't have to change for others. On the surface I do agree with these things, but it feels like some people intentionality or not assume that there's an infinite amount of people we'll meet, and that we have infinite willpower to push through a potentially infinite amount of rejection and isolation until we reach that person or friend group, and if not just be okay with lifelong loneliness. This isn't to say you should put up with abuse or disrespect to maintain a friendship or relationship, rather that these social problems may be more complicated than the human brain can handle. Many people are limited by location and language first of all, and just telling someone to master new languages and become a nomad is unrealistic. There may not be any clubs or events that tailor to your hobbies, and trying to chat with a completely random stranger is the social equivalent of rolling dice and hoping for the best. Also rejection and isolation can take its toll on the mind after some time. No one is owed a relationship or friendship, and I do believe people should do their best to find good friends and/or a relationship if that's what they want, just want to lay it out that for some people it's not so simple, and that these are serious things to consider.

Personally, I try to treat everyone equally according to who they are and I use a bunch of principles to judge on some kind of internal measuring scale whether or not I want them in my life, the scale is something like "positive VS negative experiences" and some principles I try my best to adhere to are, "lead by example", "communicate clearly", "you cannot control the things that happen to you only how you react to them", "fool me once shame in you, fool me twice shame on me".. All in all I don't really believe in free will, so I really try find out what made people act the way they do in a, "there is no bad dog, only bad owners" kind of way, but the older they are the harder it is to learn and I've recently just added the "I will not help someone that doesn't want my help" - principal. But I will try to defy the limits of reality to help someone who is genuinely wanting my help to change. I'm also not extreme in my principles, like if you lie to me multiple times, it doesn't mean that I immediately will cut you out of my life, but it does mean that you would need to keep you word multiple times in the future before I can trust you again, or else it's just me being naive. Hope this somewhat helps, because as you said.. Human relationships are complicated, but I don't think it's out of reach for our understanding.. If anyone could learn to understand it, it should be us.
