Loss of a parent

Question

As some people might have seen my last post about my best friends mom going to hospice, unfortunately her mom passed tonight while my best friend was at work. I’m not sure how to handle it. She doesn’t want to talk or see anyone. 
All I can do is offer my support. All she had was her mom and 2 younger brothers that now she has to take custody of. I’ve never lost a parent, and I can’t imagine losing my mom at 25??? My heart is breaking for her. And being an empath, I feel her emotions even through text and I’m sobbing. I don’t know how to help…

It is important to let your friend know that you are there for them and that you care about them. It is important to be understanding and to offer your support in any way that you can. It is also important 
to let your friend know that it is okay for them to grieve in their own way and that there is no right or wrong way to feel. You can offer to help with her brothers or offer to be a listening ear when she wants to talk. Let her know you are there for her and will support her through this difficult time.

I'm sure your friend knows that she has your support. Not wanting to see anyone right after a loss like that is not unusual.

You can offer support in other ways. Bring her food, offer to run errands for her. The smaller things that shock and grief may be making her incapable of handling right now.

Just go and be there for her and give her support both emotionally and mentally. My friend's mom passed away when he was just 20yrs old and I know how hard this loss feels for a person 🥺.

Hmm it's extremely tough to be honest and think about that but what you can do give her time and space if you want I am happy to help you and you can message me in the dm. Understand this is extremely tough situation for her specially give her space and time alone but at same time care for she for now can't be as emotionally strong as so need to for that and be her emotionally support.  After sometime listen to her and if she is venting out tell her vent out . Moreso tell her that her Mom legacy wil live on you by her daughter as she will give the lesson which her Mom give to her and when time come to Mom or when she as children as she pss on the things that her Mom teach. Hopefully this honestly could done better job

People are reacting differently to grief, either they will need people around to talk to or they will need to be left alone. For the later, sometimes we feel unable to do anything for them, powerless even if you would love to be there for them, supportive or anything really. This is the difficult one but she needs time, I'm sure she knows she can count on you but for now her emotions are probably overwhelmed by the recent news. She will come back to you and if you can't wait try to do small things, a supportive text, recommend a movie or a book to help distracting her, maybe some food to take over to her.
Don't force her to talk or to see you however, if she needs time, she will come back to you when she feels ready for it 😊

Sorry for the loss. I lost my mother June 2021. We weren't on good terms and it gets to me everyday. I didn't get to tell her I love her. Damn I miss her to pieces. 😭😭😭

Sometimes being around helps to provide a safe space in which our close friends start to process their emotions and greviences.

And we all can stand by your side while you stand by her side. Human chain of support and kindness. I hope this helps.

I think listening to her and giving her her space but doing gentle gestures like bringing meals is the best. Not only did she lose her mom but also has to be strong for her brothers and feed clothe and take care of them. She's probably struggling financially as well as grieving and being under a ton of stress. So any help like do they have winter jackets do they play sports maybe you can pick them up and drop them off until she gets in a good routine. I think you're a good friend to be so concerned and your friend is under going a huge trial my heart goes out to her and her brothers
