"I wonder how much time passes while we stumble upon the wrong people, just to finally reach someone genuine—someone who carries a heart like ours. And if you actually reach them, how will you react? Will you give them all your love, or will the lingering pain and fear hold you back because of everything you’ve been through? What is the point of fleeting connections? I honestly don't understand why people play with others' hearts simply because they feel lonely, or because they don't love themselves enough and use someone else just to feel worthy. If you don't love someone, there is no need to use them for your own sake. They are human, just like you, not beneath you to be treated as a means to an end. Sadly, so many manipulate others just to feed their own selfishness and emotional insecurity."

Yes, because what gets hurt/broken is trust. You can keep loving, but it will be difficult to trust people again.
A lot of people cant. They hold their new partner accountable for the sins of past partners that hurt them. This is becoming more and more common, especially with divorce rate being so high. Some people have years of resentment built up. I try my best to give my new gfs a clean slate and not bring up my exes, unless they ask (edited)
Of course you can. What's more: you must haha. Not loving fully just traps you in fear... Don't worry. With each romantic experience we go through, you learn what is good or not (healthy or not) for your future relationships. You learn to make better decisions, to identify behaviors in your partner that weren't so obvious before, to identify what you really want from your partner, and among other things, that each of us is truly responsible for our own emotions.
