Unpopular Opinion

Men deserve the right to cry infront of a woman and not lose their masculinity. EDIT: I meant in front of a woman he knows. Like a friend or his lady. It'd be a little weird if a random guy cried at me in person. I mean, I would listen but it'd be awkward. That said, if anyone on here needs to vent, I'm here. Texting is different than in person crying.

Humans are allowed to feel. I get irritated when I hear women can't be assertive & men aren't allowed to be emotional. We are people and we have emotions and are allowed to use those emotions. Never be afraid to feel.

I think you said it all... We are people, there shouldn't be a distinction of gender, race, age or any other kind! We are all souls, and we should all be able to feel, cry and laugh without any judgements.

If you don't want to see a man cry then don't date a man, it'll happen eventually and the whole point is to want to support your partner so I don't see how anyone can disagree with this honestly

crying isn’t feminine**. people interpreting crying as femininity are the problem. you can’t lose masculinity or femininity because of naturally occurrences from your body.

Masculinity is a construct. Feelings are human, they make us who we are. Crying is not a sign of weakness -- it shows you're able to overcome the feeling of vulnerability.

No it's actually the opposite, crying shows you cant handle the situation and overcome a problem. Imagine if your boss or supervisor cried at work bcoz he kept messing up.

@Kris Being so afraid of what other people think of your masculinity that you can't cry when appropriate isn't strength, it's weakness. Just like men who are afraid to dance cause it's "girly" are weak.

@Lynne I disagree. Crying is already a weakness for a human being. Also when and how it is appropriate to cry is too subjective anyways. To answer to your example, if the dance style is known to be girly and he still did it, he should expect that kind of responce. And if his girly dance was bad, thats even more weak.

@Kris See that's what I mean. If you live your life trying to follow a narrow definition of what a man is just so other people don't think you're "less manly" or weak, you're giving other people power to control your life. That's not strength.

Im alpha male af, I cry at anything on TV. Dogs purpose made me cry for an hour! I still cry watching Titanic. Honestly, it don't matter what it is I'll tear up at anything. And if anyone challenged my 'masculinity' they'd soon regret it. Although let's be real, masculinity and femininity all have a place in a person's soul.

@Kris I think you are misinterpreting my comment. I'm agreeing with Rousse. Men should be allowed to cry and not lose their masculinity. I'm just saying when people cry they are vulnerable so it's disgusting how people put them down when they are in a state like that.

@Matthew I see. My bad then. Crying = losing masculity is something society already decides, most women also think that. Society double standard will put vulnerable man down when they cry, but will try to lift up a woman who cries.

A real woman will lose respect for a man that cries in front of them. Exceptions include silent crying at the funeral of a CLOSE love one, and even that is stretching it.

How would we lose respect for a man who’s strong enough to show his true emotions? I applaud men who are able to cry and express themself, they were raised to be told crying makes them weak, but crying makes you strong, you’re going against societal norms and what everybody told you was wrong and that makes them pretty badass and genuine to themselves. So don’t say all women are like that that’s absolutely not true bc I’ve never thought that way.
