war on drugs
fox news ran a story about an officer today in phoenix overdosing after being exposed to fentanyl. a similar story was told about an officer in florida some weeks ago. fentanyl is scary, i had an internet friend overdose on it. it is not to be played around with in any capacity. recreational use is undoubtedly and extremely dangerous. i want it to be taken seriously. however, according the American College of Medical Toxicology and the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology, first responder exposure is extremely low. at maximum aireborn exposure, it would take 200 minutes of that exposure time for anyone to even feel its effects. as far as dermal exposure goes, you would have to cover both of your palms in fentanyl patches, and then it would take fourteen minutes for a dose of 100 mcg of fentanyl. so what is happening to these officers? a. the officers in question seized the drugs, and maybe got a little bored. sampled the product to take the edge off. i understand b. it's all a bunch of bs propaganda. and it would be a real shame if these horror stories were exposed as false, wouldn't it? people may then go on to underestimate how dangerous fentanyl is. more people may die. well, there already a slew of news outlets running fact checks on these stories. my money says that these numbers are going to begin getting a whole lot worse. thank you for coming to my ted talk, all cops are bastards
