If you're a player, then the only book you really need is the player handbook and maybe Monsters of the Multiverse, if you want access to, I think, 30 extra playable races. As far as websites, dndbeyond is a fantastic resource, you can keep track of your character(s), buy digital books (and thus can save them as a pdf for online or printed use) and for map making I like Inkarnate (edited)

I'd say if you don't want to deal with constantly erasing stuff on and/or maintaining a physical character sheet, download D&D Beyond. It dramatically helps staying organized. Plus, if you roll dice in the app, it does ask the math associated with it
